ALL SPORTS!
Hypnosis can get you into the Zone!Every sports person has heard of "Being in the Zone" and most of us have experienced it at some point or another. That feeling where everything seems to happen so easily, you seem to have boundless energy, the adrenaline levels are high, your nerves are replaced with excitement, your focus of attention is narrowed and intensified, blocking out all distractions. It's almost as though you are witnessing yourself feeling and performing like a champion without any conscious thought as to how you're doing it - you're "on fire" and you know it! What a fantastic feeling! Wouldn't it be great to be this way all the time? Of course it would! Without getting too technical, hypnosis can do this by bypassing the critical conscious analytical mind and working directly with the accepting subconscious mind. It's like changing from the inside out. As well as assisting athletes to get in the zone, hypnosis is excellent for correcting bad technique or enhancing good technique. The more we practice the more we reinforce whatever it is we are practicing and sometimes bad habits can develop which can be painstakingly slow to change the traditional way, with cognitive correction (thinking your way through it). Hypnosis can change these bad habits right where they live - in the subconscious. I am so confident that hypnosis will improve your game that I am willing to give you this guarantee: Hypnosis will improve your game or I'll give you your money back. Although hypnosis has been practiced for hundreds, perhaps thousands of years, there is still a lot of mystery that surrounds it, so I have addressed some of the more common misconceptions here. Hypnosis Myths Hypnosis is unnatural: Hypnosis is an altered but natural state in the same way that we experience an altered state when we daydream. I'm sure we've all had the experience of daydreaming and not even heard our name being called by someone. Most of us would have also experienced "Highway Hypnosis" - arriving at our destination in our car without having any real memory of the trip. Sleeping and dreaming, something everybody does every day is also a naturally occurring altered state. I'll do something I don't want to do: This is a common misconception perpetuated by "Stage Hypnotists". In this scenario audience members who put up their hands to volunteer to be a part of the entertainment realise beforehand the types of things that would be expected of them as a participant. Even though some would say that these people are making fools of themselves, they are not doing anything against their will. They have already agreed to do what is required when they volunteered to be on stage. In short, you won't do anything you don't want to do. I won't be in control: You are in full control and may choose to accept or reject suggestions as you see fit. You may even choose to come out of hypnosis at any time you wish. I cannot be hypnotised: Levels of hypnosis vary greatly from person to person. I have had clients who have achieved what is termed as a "light trance state" through to clients who can achieve a "somnambulistic trance state". Anyone who has the ability to concentrate can be hypnotised, it's just the degree that varies and like all things, the more experience you have the better you get at reaching deeper states. In my experience though, when it comes to sports hypnosis, the level of trance achieved has little bearing on the therapeutic results - all levels of hypnosis produce a positive effect. If you have any concerns yourself please feel free to call or email me and I'd be happy to discuss them with you.
What People Say Dear David, I really wanted to let you know how positively helpful the hypnotherapy sessions have been for my squash game. This last season has seen me starting the game with fewer nerves and playing in a far more relaxed yet focused state, yielding with it an increase in match points. This has been such a sudden and obvious change for me that it can be for no other reason than because the hypnotherapy sessions have been successful in there purpose. I am also very pleased to report that I was able to finish this last season on a high note with 3 match wins in a row, to break the losing streak. With the new season starting just a few weeks ago, it is also reassuring for me that you have given me some conscious tools to begin the season with and to build upon the subconscious habits developed throughout the season and beyond. Thanks again, and again. Hypnotherapy has been such a positive experience for me that I am highly recommending you and your techniques to everyone and anyone who may be interested. Kindest Regards, Allison Robinson.
I came to Zoneplay for help with Taekwondo sparring competitions and also distance running. I found the sessions with David helped improve my performance in both sports. Specifically, following the relevant sessions I was able to significantly control my nerves better before Taekwondo fights, as well as increasing my focus and awareness during a fight. My running has also improved with better breath control and an increased endurance ability. I had never before done any hypnotic therapy and found myself at ease during all sessions. I'd recommend Zoneplay to any sportsperson who would like to improve their game. Andrew Hammonds
My name is Erin Staib and as well as running my own personal training studio (Oomph PT) I am also a Taekwondo competitor. Taekwondo is a full contact sport and I was a little bit nervous to say the least when I entered my first black belt tournament recently. I knew I would probably be facing much more experienced opponents - and I was right! Three weeks before my tournament I had a hypno session with David. The results were remarkable! I had no nerves whatsoever leading into the tournament (very unusual for me) and my two fights on the day were by far the best I had ever fought. I was in the zone if I do say so myself. I just seemed to be intensely "switched on" the entire time. I won the first fight easily and went down narrowly in the second fight to an already international black belt champion, but boy, did I give her a run for her money! I'll definitely be seeing David again before the next tournament, just for a top up.
